First day of winter

Today is the first day of winter.



Though I feel like it started a few weeks back.



I'm happy to welcome it today.



A little bit of sun. Friends over in the morning to build sugar cube castles. Play piano. Have coffee.



Caught the last rays of sunlight on the shortest day of the year.



And last night, the annual Solstice walk. A wonderful tradition. This time with fireworks and fire lanterns. Walking with great friends and talking about the upcoming holidays and times we'll be spending together. We are lucky.

The official fairy-ing is done for the season. Our family is out of town until tomorrow, so we got to have some fun inside their little abode tonight. (I hope it's nice and warm in spirit and true air temperature when they get in.) Just realized I forgot to take pictures of what we'd made. Oh, well. A re-cap once we've all been revealed.
