Emerge

I heard somewhere that around St. Patrick's Day was the traditional time for planting potatoes (and peas too.) Though I think they were speaking about planting times in Ireland... we're close enough, right? I had it in mind to put ours in the ground today too.



We had a planting ceremony this evening after dinner. (The corn chowder from How To Eat Supper was quite good, by the way.)



Let the Malone boys oversee the endeavor and we're sure to have a strong crop.

As the daylight faded away and the sounds of the evening tubby filtered outside, I spied a few other Spring treasures emerging from their damp underground beds.
