Even better

The first harvest of beets from the garden.



I grew them from seed, and that seems like a bigger deal than if I'd planted starts.



What with all the timing and watching and thinning and watering that has to be done.



Boiled a few tonight, nervous but hopeful.



I'm the only one in the house who will eat them.



And that's a very good thing. Because they're delicious and they're all mine!

you're so lucky! I planted golden beets this year (first time) from seed and then only got to be about the size of an avocado pit, and those were the big ones. The other ones are marble size. I wonder what I did wrong? I love beets. Yum!

Oh and did you know you can cook the greens? They are actually pretty tasty!
