Perhaps you wouldn't understand my pleasure... perhaps you would.
In retrospect one of the things I miss most about Santa Cruz is the blooming of the naked ladies. I didn't see them growing here, but took my chances and planted two bulbs a couple years ago. Later I learned that the bulbs need to be crowded together, so they were uprooted and replanted in a more intimate arrangement this spring.
One of them is now in bloom, her dark red-purple stem and coy pink trumpets facing the sun. Welcome Belladonna.
